Texas Tech Football head coach Tommy Tuberville resigned from his position this morning to become the head coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats. The team and football staff were told the news at a meeting this morning around 11.

The Bearcats hired Tuberville to replace Butch Jones who left to become the head coach at Tennessee.

Tuberville spent three seasons at Texas Tech after he replaced Mike Leach.  Tuberville's record at Texas Tech was (20-17) with a (9-17) mark in the Big 12 Conference. This season the Red Raiders went (7-5) and will play Minnesota at Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas on December 28.

ESPN Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell reports that Tuberville's buyout is $900,000.
