A Texas based organization has collected more than $120,000 in assistance for illegal immigrant children at the Texas-Mexico border.

The organization, Texas Young Democrats, is requesting individuals and organizations to join them in sending monetary aid to the Texas border. According to a release from the group, they have collected over $120,000 in direct assistance that will be sent to the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley which is currently housing supplies for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of McAllen.

Texas Young Democrats also created an Amazon Wish List to collect items for their Project: With Love, From Texas initiative. According to the group, donations increased by more than $60,000 over the last week with help from a small number of donors.

The group said that more guns at the border will not solve the humanitarian crisis at the border. The crisis began as a surge of illegal immigrants began flooding into the country in recent months.
