A Texas Tech Fraternity has lost its charter following images of a scandalous sign appearing online last month.

Phi Delta Theta - slogan: Become the greatest version of yourself - announced Monday, October 6, it has placed the charter of the Epsilon Chapter in escrow and removed the membership of individuals responsible for a sexually suggestive sign and those holding chapter leadership positions. Members of Texas Tech’s chapter include Student Body President Hayden Hatch.

The scandal surrounds images that surfaced online at TotalFratMove.com regarding photos of slogans condoning rape at an alleged Phi Delta Theta ‘Hurricane Party’ on September 19.

In response to the allegations, several sheets were hung around Texas Tech’s campus with “No Means No” displayed in stark contrast. According to KAMC News, there was also an unsigned flier passed around campus that demanded the removal of Hatch.

Following the Phi Delta Theta and other recent fraternity scandals, Texas Tech announced the creation of a Greek Task Force meant to assess the state of the university’s Greek system.

An article published on Texas Tech’s student publication, The Daily Toreador, alleges that Texas Tech is currently investigating actions of members of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. The investigation would mark the third into a Texas Tech Greek organization this year.

According to a press release from Phi Delta Theta, the remaining members will have all activities limited to education in the areas of sexual assault prevention and bystander behavior, improving chapter operations, community service and philanthropic activities. The members will also be required to provide 10,000 hours of community service to organizations dedicated to sexual assault prevention.
