A Texas Tech athlete has earned conference honors.

Tech junior high jumper JaCorian Duffield has been named as the Big 12 Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

The honor comes after Duffield broke a 30-year-old school record in the high jump at the Texas Tech Open last week.

Duffield, a native of Schertz, Texas, cleared a bar at 2.23 meters on his first attempt. He jumped to 2nd on the national indoor qualifying list after his first meet of the season.

The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders will participate in their second indoor meet of the season on Saturday in College Station at the Texas A&M Triangular.
