A Texas Tech track and field athlete has broken another school record.

Tech sophomore Cierra White dominated in the women’s 100-meter dash to finish first overall in 11.09 seconds during the Red Raider Open Thursday afternoon.

That particular success jumped White to No. 5 in the world for the 2013 season, the top of the Big 12, and also broke a 27-year-old facility record.

Tech managed 14 first place finishes for the 18th ranked Red Raiders and the 15th ranked Lady Raiders in the final home meet of the season.

“Cierra was such a great highlight and it was great to see her break that facility record,” said head coach Wes Kittley. “I coached both athletes so it was very special for me.”

Texas Tech will open competition at the Big 12 Championships in Waco on May 3rd.
