Texas Tech’s track and field teams remain in the top 20 after a good showing at the Big 12 Championships.

The Red Raiders moved up four spots to No. 14, and the Lady Raiders stayed at No. 17. The Lady Raiders have been in the top 20 for the entire season.

The Tech men’s track and field finished third at the Big 12 Championships with 117.5 points, while the Lady Raiders finished sixth with 77.5 points last weekend. It marked the highest finish for the men’s team since 2007, and the Lady Raiders’ points are the most scored by a Lady Raider team since 2010.

Tech crowned three athletes as Big 12 Champions at the meet as freshman Nick Rivera, sophomore Cierra White, and senior Bryce Lamb each won individual titles.

“We had a very good conference meet,” said Tech head coach Wes Kittley. “I think it showed we can compete at a very high level.”

Tech will now begin preparing for the NCAA West Preliminaries, which will be held on May 23rd through the 25th in Austin.
