Texas lawmakers will mull whether tickets for concerts, sports or any other major event are personal licenses or personal property.

If they are found to be a license, then tickets would be admittance only for the person who purchased and was assigned them.

If they are personal property, then those buying tickets can either resell or give them away.

Some concert promoters want the tickets to work like airline tickets, and be bound to the specific person and be non-transferrable. This would not only allow organizers to charge much higher prices, but also require event goes to match their IDs to their tickets.

With many state lawmakers priding themselves on property rights and free markets, hopefully they will stand up for the rights of ticket buyers to resell or give away the tickets they purchase, and in turn, keep prices down.
