After 52 years in Lubbock, Stuart's Jewelers is closing their doors some time in January 2017.

I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with Jeanie Greer, who has been working side by side with Sandy Stuart Greer for 30 years. Stuart's has had loyal customers for more than half a century and are a heritage jewelry store here in Lubbock.

Stuart's is also a licensed Texas Tech jeweler, so they have great bargains on TexasTech University rings, watches, earrings, bracelets and all things Texas Tech.

"The business was opened in 1964 by my father-in-law, but he passed in the early 70s, so it's been ours ever since, so it's second generation. The reason we're closing is we're retiring," Jeanie Greer told me. "It is very bittersweet. The main thing that we're going to miss is our customers. We've had a lot of loyal customers that have been with us for years and years and years."

Greer said they have two daughters that live out of town in Idaho and Oregon, so they are looking forward to being able to visit them more often after their retirement.

"The main thing I just want our customers to know is that we'll miss them and we appreciate all their support for these many many years," she said.

She also wanted to remind everyone the importance of shopping local businesses.

Stuart's Jewelers has been in the hearts and minds of so many here in the Hub City for more than half a century and will be dearly missed.
