The South Plains College Livestock Judging Team has claimed the title in a recent event.

The team took home the championship at the Tri-State Fair, held on September 14th in Amarillo.

Both the freshmen and sophomore teams were the Grand Champion teams in their respective divisions, defeating other teams from Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

“This was a really good start to the year,” said David Cleavinger, professor of Agriculture and coach of the Livestock Judging Team. “We have some really outstanding young men and women who will represent South Plains College really well in the upcoming season.”

A number of sophomore and freshman students also took home individual honors as well.

The SPC Livestock Judging Team will compete this weekend in Wichita, Kansas.
