On Wednesday's edition of Lubbock's First News Julie Gersternberger, director of development at South Plains College, talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about some upcoming opportunities for SPC alumni.

South Plains College is looking for nominees for their distinguished alumni award. Nominees mast have worked a minimum of 10 years in their profession, and must be recognized for outstanding contributions by their co-workers or employers. Recipients of the award will be honored at the May 2013 graduation ceremony. Gersternberger said anyone can make a nomination, and even self-nominations are welcome as well. Nominations can be made on the SPC website.

South Plains College will also be hosting a scholarship gala on Saturday, February 23rd at the Physical Education complex. Tickets are $100 for individuals, and $500-$5,000 for a table. All proceeds from the gala will go to student scholarships.
