Some local politicos will get together to discuss a controversial topic this weekend.

The next “Liberty Workshop” series will focus on “Syria: Crossing the Red Line” on Saturday, September 28th.

The event will take place at the Vintage Township Town Hall, located at 12002 Trafalgar Avenue, near 114th and Quaker Avenue, at 10 a.m. and will run until noon.

The workshop’s guest speaker is local Republican activist Dr. Donald May. A question and answer session will follow May’s presentation.

Organizer Brian Thornton said “An intervention in Syria, whether it be air strikes or aiding the rebels, presents both familiar and fundamental questions regarding the scope of the President’s military powers, as well as the ultimate goals of U.S. policy in the Middle East. This is something that Republicans and Democrats are both internally divided on.”

Thornton said that the Liberty Workshops are not just intended for Republicans, but also for those across the political spectrum who hold different viewpoints.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.
