Wednesday on Lubbock's First News, Jennie Bailey, who has worked in the Texas Tech Athletics Department for 28 years, gave details on the upcoming Rock the Red fundraiser that will help pay for the costs of cancer treatment.

Bailey was diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer during March 2013. She became a popular member of the University department over her years of service. Bailey said, "I mostly worked under the recruiting coordinator and helped with recruiting. That's what I've done the entire time I've been there... Met their families when they came in and meet the kids. They've all just become my kids."

Texas Tech athletic alumni and others will come together to help her overcome the financial costs of cancer treatments with Rock the Red. The event will be held Saturday, April 12 at the Frazier Alumni Pavillion. Doors for the general public will be at 8 p.m. The event will feature country music artist Billy Dawson, a silent auction, and cash bar. While the event is free, a $10 donation is recommended upon entry. Donations can also be made to the Jennie Bailey Fund at First Capital Bank of Texas, 6811 Indiana Avenue.
