A Texas Tech football player has been added to a national preseason watch list.

Junior running back Eric Stephens is one of fifty candidates for the Paul Hornung Award. The Hornung award is presented annually by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend Paul Hornung to the athlete deemed as the most versatile football player in major college sports.

Included in the preseason watch list are 20 seniors, 20 junior, and 10 sophomores representing 46 universities.

In two seasons, Stephens broke Donny Anderson’s longtime kickoff return yardage record, as he has accrued 1,894 yards on 68 returns. He has also rushed for 683 yards and hauled in 212 through the air.
