To end Ag Awareness Week on Lubbock's First News, Tom and Laura were joined by Brad Dabbert of the Texas Tech Quail-Tech Alliance.

The Quail-Tech Alliance spends a lot of time hoping for rain because that's one of the major factors that support quail population.

"We spend a lot of time doing, in the spring and fall especially, going out and doing counts to see what our populations are doing," said Dabbert. "We also try to monitor nesting and chick survival."

The alliance has 26 ranches enrolled in a program called anchor ranches.

"We're trying to anchor a quality habitat in the counties and rolling plains of Texas. We've spread that out so we could try to get the big regional picture of what's going on with quail populations," said Dabbert.
