Prosecutors have asked permission from a judge to confiscate over $21,000 following an assault investigation.

Alfredo Lopez (28) is one of two suspects involved in the beating of a Texas Tech student. Gregory Avari (24) was found brutally beaten outside the University Trails Apartments located at 2210 Main Street last month.

Court records filed earlier this week indicate officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Marshals and Lubbock Police found $21,517, a handgun, methamphetamine, hydroponic marijuana, Xanax, Adderall, Conazepam, Tramadol, and Hydrocodone in Alfredo Lopez's residence on the 500 block of North Kline Avenue.

Prosecutors are requesting permanent confiscation of the money found in the residence. As of Wednesday, August 5, Lopez is being held in the Lubbock County Jail on assault charges. His bond has been set at $50,000.
