On Thursday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Harmon Kaslow, produced of the Atlas Shrugged movie, talked with Chad Hasty and Rex Andrew about his newest film: Atlas Shrugged Part 2.

Part 2 of the film adaptation of Ayn Rand's prophetic novel picks up where Part 1, released last year, finished off. However, Karmon said you don't have to see the first part to appreciate the story Part 2 tells. Karmon said that he believes people will be very interested in this film as it draws a parallel to what's occurring right now with our own government.

[Atlas Shrugged] speaks to the individual in all of us and it demonstrates very clearly the unintended consequences of an overreaching government. What's happening right now really is a perfect example of how government has really gone awry."

Karmon said he was very grateful for the support he received for Part 1, and expects Part 2 to have a wider opening than the previous film. He also spoke about the new cast of the film, saying that in the end, the most important thing is telling the story of the book and not necessarily having the big names behind it.

Atlas Shrugged Part 2 will be released in theater on October 10th. For more information on the movie, visit the official website at atlasshruggedmovie.com.
