A Loop 289 bridge will be closed to traffic for one day this week.

The north Quaker Avenue/TTU Parkway bridge at northwest Loop 289 will be closed on Wednesday, June 12th.

The closure will begin after the morning rush and will allow contractors to place beams for the new southbound Loop 289 bridge.

Both north and southbound Quaker Avenue/TTU Parkway traffic will not have access through the Loop 289 intersection. Motorists will need to use the frontage roads to connect with Slide Road or US 84 to navigate around the work area.

One lane of the southbound Loop 289 frontage road will also be closed on Wednesday to serve as a staging area for the beams and equipment, but will reopen Wednesday evening.

The work is part of a $26.9 million TxDOT project to rebuild the Loop 289/Quaker/Erskine interchange, widen the loop from Slide Road to one mile east of Quaker Avenue from a four-lane divided roadway to a six-lane freeway, and rebuild the frontage roads.
