On Thursday's edition of Lubbock's First News, registered dietician Christie Hust talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about National Nutrition Month.

The American Dietetic Association has named March as National Nutrition Month. This year, the theme is "Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day." Hust said that, when it comes to diets, it's important to pick one that is not drastic, and something you can stick with every day.

Hust said a good diet plan should take into account not just health issues, but also your culture and your regular eating habits. She noted that the reason a lot of fad diets are so unsuccessful is because they are either too hard to follow or just simply don't work. Hust also added that it's not always what you eat, but how much of it you eat that play a big role in weight gain.
