Mayor Tom Martin Expects Homeless in Tent City Will Be Moved, Possibly into a Building

On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, Mayor Tom Martin was asked about speculation that the tent city might be moved to Buddy Holly Park in the Canyon Lakes area.
The mayor’s response:
“First of all, they lost their zoning case at the P&Z, and it’s got to be appealed to the council this next month. It’s very difficult to overturn the Planning and Zoning Commission. My guess is they’ll be given some sort of grace period to be able to move. Even Link Ministries wants to move to a building rather than keep the tents up. So I think they will find a place that will be suitable, and we’ll give them the time to do it.”
