At a special meeting Friday afternoon, the Lubbock City Council appointed an interim city manager after they fired City Manager Lee Ann Dumbauld earlier this week.

The Council unanimously appointed James Loomis, who currently serves as the director of the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, to serve as interim city manager around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Loomis has served as the airport director since 2004.

This comes after the Council had a close 4-3 vote to fire former Lubbock City Manager Lee Ann Dumbauld on Monday evening. Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson, District 5 Councilwoman Karen Gibson, and District 2 Councilman Floyd Price voted against firing Dumbauld.

The Council will meet for their next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday. KFYO will be at that meeting to bring you the latest from City Hall.
