Erin Simpson of the Lubbock chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation stopped by the News/Talk KFYO studios Wednesday and visited with Lubbock's First News' Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the upcoming Masquerade Wineopener event.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the Stone Creek Special Events Center, 4907 N. County Road 1700, North on Milwaukee Avenue, south of U.S. Highway 84, and tickets are priced at $50 each.

Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.netxcff.org/lubbockwineopener.

According to Simpson, 90 percent of donations go to Cystic Fibrosis research.

Simpson said much progress has been made in researching and treating the genetic respiratory and digestive disorder.

"You can go to just the Cystic Fibrosis website, cff.org, and see the research over the past 20 years, just the steady increase in new treatments and new medications and thigs they are doing," said Simpson. "They have done a lot of work over the past 20 years."
