Friday on Lubbock's First News, Sarah Clementine Mire, a high school student with winning musical talent, talked about her upcoming semifinals performance and some of her history.

Mire will compete in the Dallas Opera Guild Competition. She will be the fourth high school student in 26 years to make it to the semifinals of the competition, which will be held on the Winspear Opera House stage. Mire said, "That's just going to be an honor singing up there with all the others." Mire will perform in South Pacific and Titanic this summer with Lubbock Moonlight Musicals. She has been training to sing for nine years, acquiring the talent in spite of her hearing impairment
