Motorists are advised to find an alternate route around the I-27/US 84 frontage road intersection Friday evening.

A segment of the southbound I-27 frontage road at the eastbound Avenue Q/US 84 intersection has been reduced to one lane of traffic due to pavement damage.

Eastbound US 84 frontage road traffic at I-27 has also been reduced to one lane.

Work to make temporary repairs to the intersection is underway, and is expected to take several hours to complete, according to TxDOT.

Motorists can expect delays in the area.

Permanent repairs to the roadway are expected to occur in July.

As for other street repairs, City of Lubbock street crews will reopen all lanes of Milwaukee Avenue just south of 82nd Street around 6 p.m. Friday evening.

Repairs were necessary after the concrete buckled following Wednesday’s high temperatures.
