What may surprise many is the number of sex offenders who call Lubbock home. According to the site City-Data.com, there were 600 registered sex offenders living in and around the City of Lubbock.

According to City-Data, the ratio of all residents to sex offenders in Lubbock is 421 to 1 which is near the state average. While some sex offenders live in more rural parts of Lubbock, hundreds live in the city.

You can visit the map from City-Data here and even look up other cities across Texas. The map shows pinpoints where a sex offender lives. When you click on the blue pinpoint it shows you the sex offender's name and other information. That information includes the risk level to the community.

You can also click on a city here and it will show you the information. For example, there are 16 registered sex offenders in Shallowater, 52 in Levelland, and 37 sex offenders in Slaton.

When it comes to Halloween, Texas law prevents registered sex offenders from handing out candy. They are also supposed to turn off their porch lights off so that way no kids will go up to their door.
