Raider Red Meats will host the fourth annual Raider Red Meats BBQ Cookoff in early September.

Raider Red Meats, who are part of the Meat Science and Muscle Biology program of Texas Tech University’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences, will host the cookoff on September 5-6.

The cookoff will be held in the S1 parking lot at the corner of Texas Tech Parkway and Marsha Sharp Freeway and is open to all. Entry fee for competitive teams will be $125 per team.

Categories for the competition include beans, chicken, ribs and brisket.

Check-in and set-up will begin at noon on Friday, September 5, with a meeting of cooks at 7 p.m. Judging will begin on Saturday, September 6, with winners announced at 5 p.m.
