“I’m honored to have the support of Mayor McCaleb who has been an incredibly strong advocate for Abilene and the entire region,” said Arrington. “If I’m fortunate enough to be elected, I look forward to working with him on the critical issues that affect Taylor County and West Texas such as water, jobs and the economy, and public and higher education.”

McCaleb previously served on the Abilene City Council before serving three terms as Mayor and was also the president of the Texas Municipal League.

“I’m proud to support Jodey Arrington in this election and would encourage voters in this region to get out and vote next Tuesday, September 9th,” said McCaleb. “It’s important that we have a Senator who is committed to working hard for our County and our region, and I believe that Jodey Arrington is the best candidate to represent our interests and needs.”

The announcements were made during a visit by Arrington to Abilene in an effort to encourage large voter turn-out during the Tuesday, September 9, election.

In a recent editorial, The Abilene Reporter News has also announced endorsement of Arrington.

Friday, September 5, will mark the last day of early voting for the special election with the election to be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9. The winner of the special election will assume the position that State Senator Robert Duncan vacated to become Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System.
