Stanford University scientists unveiled a new flexible battery that, they say, can make devices with flexible screen technology more viable. The kicker? It can charge in just one minute.

Professor Hongjie Dai and team developed the new battery with inexpensive aluminum and graphite.

What makes this aluminum battery special, reported Stanford, was the “unprecedented” one-minute charge time and increased durability. They said the battery can hold a charge for more than 7,500 cycles compared to a typical lithium-ion battery’s 1,000.

As demonstrated in the video above, the battery is also not volatile like current lithium-ion batteries and will not fizz or catch fire when punctured.
