A man was arrested late last week as the suspect in the December 12th fatal shooting at a Lubbock auto shop.

The incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. when Lubbock Police responded to the 4800 block of Avenue Q for gunshots. Upon arrival, three gunshot victims were found.

The victims were identified as 28-year-old Sergio Valdez, 32-year-old Meagan Pena, and 21-year-old Alijah Viramontes. Valdez and Pena suffered minor injuries, while Viramontes sustained serious injuries. Lubbock police later confirmed that Viramontes died from his injuries.

Eyewitnesses and authorities identified the suspect as 32 year-old Thomas Martinez after surveillance video showed him with a handgun and firing shots. Martinez was arrested at a residence in the 6200 block of 62nd Street on Friday, December 17th.

Martinez was charged with murder and theft, then booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
