Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show Texas District 28 Senator Charles Perry joined Chad Hasty in the KFYO studio to talk about issues facing the state and the nation.

Perry and Hasty discussed the Republican National Convention that is underway, and Perry shared his thoughts on some speeches that have been given so far, including Senator Ted Cruz's address and the fact that Cruz did not endorse Donald Trump for President.

The main topic of discussion was the recent 5th Circuit Court ruling which struck down the voter ID law in Texas on the grounds that is discriminatory.

During the conversation on the ruling, Perry said, "We never intentionally do anything to disenfranchise voters. On the contrary, the intent of that voter bill was to ensure the integrity at the [ballot] box, which gives those people that go to vote the confidence that their vote counts."

Perry continued, saying,

We're going to go back and figure out what the objections were, get that cleaned up, and reprocess the bill.

Perry and Hasty also discussed the recent trend in violence against law enforcement officers in the nation, and the possibility of a new law in Texas which would make it a hate crime to attack a law enforcement officer specifically for being an officer.
