Erin Coats, chairperson for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, joined Lubbock's First News to discuss the disease and the group's upcoming Great Strides Walk.

Coats was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was 15 months old.

"My parents started learning how to handle that before I can even remember," Coats said. "It's all I've ever known and it's just a part of life."

Most people think cystic fibrosis is just be a respiratory disease, but it can also affect a person's digestive system as well. Right now, there is no cure for cystic fibrosis.

The foundation will be hosting its annual Great Strides Walk this Saturday, May 2 at Buddy Holly Park. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10 a.m.
