Lubbock City Council Meeting Tonight

The Lubbock City Council will meet tonight at City Hall and on the agenda are two items that have caused debate. The council will have a second reading of an oil and gas ordinance that passed last time at City Hall on a 4-3 vote. Council members Karen Gibson and Jeff Griffith along with the Mayor voted against the measure. Councilwoman Gibson said that if it passes than future growth in north and east Lubbock would be hurt.

The council will also begin discussing the Storm Water rates that have sent many in Lubbock into a rage. I applaud both the Mayor and Councilwoman Gibson for hosting town hall meetings so they could hear from the citizens about this issue.

Remember, you can make a difference with this council by showing up. I saw it with the smoking ban and I've seen it in the past with other issues. Show up, be courteous, and you can sway the council. Something needs to change with the Storm Water rates as businesses have been hit too much by the changes. It will take some time for the council to adjust what they got wrong, but stay in their face. They need to see and hear you.

You can listen to Councilwoman Gibson's interview from yesterday here.

Lawmakers Want Access

According to FOX News, not everyone is satisfied with Hillary Clinton's press event yesterday. In fact, at least one Republican lawmaker wants access the Clinton's private server.

Congressional investigators are now focusing on that server and looking to pressure her into turning it over -- despite her insistence Tuesday that "the server will remain private."

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., head of the House committee investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks, said in a statement that without access to it, "there is no way for the State Department to know it has acquired all documents that should be made public."

He said he sees "no choice" but for Clinton to turn over the server "to a neutral, detached third-party arbiter who can determine which documents should be public and which should remain private."

I agree with Gowdy. Clinton should hand over her private server. If she has nothing to hid, she shouldn't be worried. By the way, this is why you don't conduct government business as Secretary of State on your own private email account. Clinton should hand over the server so the American people will know everything that went on.
