A Lubbock attorney will formally announce his candidacy for an area district court.

Billy Eichman will announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 364th District Court on Tuesday, October 22nd on the Lubbock County Courthouse's north front lawn. The announcement will be made at noon.

Eichman, a graduate of the Texas Tech School of Law, served two years as an assistant district attorney in Lubbock before moving into private practice. He has been a partner with Crenshaw, Dupree, and Milam for the past nine years.

The 364th District Court position is currently held by Republican Judge Brad Underwood, who has held the seat since 1989. Underwood has not indicated his plans to run for reelection as of yet.

A press release states that Eichman believes “it is time to give back to the people of Lubbock County with public service.”
