This Saturday, April 9, help pay tribute to a great American Civil Rights leader, César E. Chávez, by participating in Lubbock’s 17th Annual César E. Chávez People’s March and Celebration.

The hour long march will begin at the Canyon Lakes/Buddy Holly Recreational Area on N. University & César Chávez Drive at 1 p.m. The march will end at Cavazos Middle School and will then be followed by a rally at 2 p.m.

“We take pride in honoring this great American hero who humbly stayed committed to nonviolence, and humanity,” said Martinez-Garcia, annual event organizer. “This march is significant because it is a re-enactment of the initial march led by Chávez, more so, his most profound undertakings for the cause, which were inspired by his deep spirituality, and to peace and non-violence.

The entire community is welcome to join, and there will be a shuttle service provided Cavazos Middle School at 210 N. University for parking beginning at 12:15.
