After months of falling prices at the pump, AAA Texas reports the statewide average for a gallon of unleaded gasoline has increased… by one cent.

They report the average to be $1.85, $1.24 lower than last January.

Of Texas metropolitan areas, drivers in Dallas are reportedly paying the highest average at $1.88 and drivers in San Antonio the least at $1.80.

GasBuddy.com showed prices in Lubbock as low as $1.67 on Thursday, January 29. Regionally, Amarillo jumped 7 cents in the last reporting period from $1.74 to $1.81.

Nationally, drivers are paying 19 cents more than Texans at an average of $2.04.

Although prices may continue to increase in the following months, AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe said Texas retains its spot as one of the 10 cheapest states in which to buy gas.
