One woman is dead following a wreck in West Lubbock Wednesday morning.

21-year-old Emily Leatherwood rear-ended a bus from Iowa Western Community College at 19th Street and Inler Avenue just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The bus had stopped at the railroad crossing, and police say Leatherwood rear-ended the bus while failing to control speed.

Leatherwood was taken to University Medical Center, where she later died.

Lubbock Police report that there were no skid marks leading to the site of the wreck, and that Leatherwood was not wearing a seat belt.

Two of the passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries.
