Dr. Joey Young, AKA The Turf Doctor, with Texas Tech Plant and Soil Sciences joined Lubbock's First News and talked about planting cool season grass like tall fescue.

If you plant cool season grass in full sunshine, the grass can become a "water hog." Planting in a cool shady area will keep the grass from needing as much water versus planting it in full sunshine, Dr. Young explained.

"If you really want it to be successful, you need to start planting now," said Young. "Start thinking about getting the soil ready."
