Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton appointed seven members to the state’s Choose Life Advisory Committee responsible for allocation funds garnered through the sale of Choose Life specialty license plates. Two members from West Texas were selected for the committee.

The two West Texans are Lois Kerschen of Lubbock and Judy Canon of Midland.

The specialty plates were created in 2011 through Senate Bill 257. The funds are used to promote adoption as an alternative to abortion, said the office of the attorney general in press release Friday, and are distributed through a grant application process overseen by the office with advice from the committee.

“I’m pleased to appoint these talented and passionate individuals who share my commitment to protecting the sanctity of life and dedication to improving the lives of Texas children,” said Attorney General Paxton in a written statement.
