This week the City of Brownsville here in Texas outlawed plastic and paper bags from grocery stores. City officials are doing this because of litter and of course to take care of the environment. People can use re-usable plastic bags and the cloth bags we see here in Lubbock. Stores that still have single use plastic bags can charge people $1.00 if they want to use them until stores run out.

Is this really something that the City of Brownsville had to do? Talk about overreaching. I like how it is here in Lubbock. If you choose to use cloth bags, have fun. If you want plastic... no problem.

That's how it should be. Personal choice and I'm glad our local government lets us decide.

Personally, I use the green re-usable bags. Not because it's environmentally friendly, but because they hold more groceries.
