The West Texas Running Club is hosting this year’s 25th anniversary Turkey Trot.

Running the Turkey Trot has become a family tradition for many Lubbockites and visiting relatives that come from cities all over Texas, other states, and even other countries.

The 25th Anniversary Turkey Trot, that starts and finishes at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture in Mackenzie Park, 1121 Canyon Lake Dr., will be on Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd, starting at 9:00 a.m.

“We are delighted to once again host the Annual Turkey Trot”, said Lacee Hoelting, Executive Director of the Bayer Museum of Agriculture. “We invite you to come to the museum with your family and friends to experience this annual holiday event and tour our first-class museum facility that has preserved the region’s agricultural heritage and serves as a living memorial to the thousands of farm families that were pioneers in agriculture.”

The Turkey Trot features a 2 Mile and a 12K Race. The 2 Mile event is a flat out and back course except for the downhill at the start and uphill at the finish.

After exiting the Museum, runners in the 12K will encounter some challenging hills for even the toughest turkeys but will also be rewarded with some scenic views as they make their way around Canyon Lake #6 and through Mackenzie Park. The USA Track and Field certified 12K course finishes uphill back at the Bayer Museum.

For your non-running family members, volunteers are always needed and will receive a free event t-shirt!

Runners must be at least 5 years old to be in the 2 Mile Turkey Trot and at least 16-years-old to participate in the 12K.

Tickets are $30 per person to register. Members of the West Texas Running Club get a discounted price of $20.
