We've been keeping tabs on restaurants and other businesses in Lubbock that have been closing and reopening during the coronavirus pandemic. It seems as though every business in Lubbock and across the state have been impacted in one or more ways.

On October 2nd, many Lubbock fans of The Plaza Restaurant became worried when the Facebook page for the restaurant announced that they would be closing temporarily. In this climate we've seen too often that temporary could mean forever.

When the restaurant announced that they would temporally close, not much of a reason was given:

Starting at 3pm today, The Plaza Restaurant is temporarily closed for business and is following strict guidelines specified by the CDC and local officials. We are all in this together and encouraging our employees and guests to observe the same preventative guidelines for staying well. We thank you for your continued business and support.

While fans of The Plaza were worried, they received some good news today. The Plaza Restaurant has reopened as of Sunday, October 11th.

I called The Plaza just to make sure after driving by this afternoon and seeing their parking lot with cars in it. The person on the other end of the phone said they are reopened with normal business hours.

Texas restaurants can open at 75 percent capacity, according to Governor Greg Abbott's COVID-19 orders.

The Plaza Restaurant is located at 5029 Milwaukee Ave.
