Tuesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Dr. Stuart Taylor and Dr. Stephen Balch joined Hasty in the KFYO studio to talk about their presentation, "The Threats to Individual Freedom Posed by Politicized Universities, Government by Decree, and Biased News Media", taking place tomorrow night (Wednesday, November 16, 2016) at The Institute for the Study of Western Civilization at Texas Tech University.

The program details the rapidly growing problem of suppression of freedom of speech at American universities through forced political correctness and lack of due process in addressing often untrue allegations such as rape.

A large part of the problem, Balch says, is the U.S. government and the Obama administration, "...ordering the universities, basically to adopt oppressive rules that are constitutional violations of the freedom of speech..."

Explaining how the situation is being exacerbated, Taylor said, "The faculties are becoming more and more 'monolithically authoritarian leftist' in my phrase. Over time, they kind of freeze out anybody who's not one of them."

Taylor continued, explaining how deeply the government is involved,

It's been kind of a trademark, [the] Clinton administration did the same thing, to put leftist ideologues in the civil rights agencies in the Justice Department and the Department of Education. People who are far to the left of the President, I think.

Dr. Taylor is Contributing Editor for the National Journal Magazine, and Dr. Balch is Director of The Institute for the Study of Western Civilization at Texas Tech University.

This is the fourth and final event in the "Text and Context" series. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place in TTU's English/Philosophy Building, Room 001, from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m.
