Thursday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, The Car Pro Jerry Reynolds joined Dave and Matt to talk about his test drive of the week, his sports car vs others, important things to learn and consider when buying a new car, as well as other auto industry news.

This week Jerry Reynolds was test driving the 2021 BMW X5 Plug-in Hybrid, a car that Jerry says is interesting to say the least. Reynolds has always liked the X5 model from the standpoint of how luxurious it is, how nice the interior is, and how enjoyable it is to drive, and this new model has the addition of being a plug-in hybrid. Reynolds explained that you can charge it overnight and it can go 30 miles on just the electricity without ever using any gas, so if you have a short commute on a daily basis, you could drive forever without having to fill it up on gas, but if you want to go cross-country, you have that option, too. The X5 has 389 horses and 7,200 lbs. of towing power. When asked what he thinks the possible resale value of this car would be, Reynolds said that it is hard to say because this is a new thing. On one hand, BMW has not had a great track record for resale, but on the other hand, with gas prices on the rise, this could be ok. Overall, he thinks the car could be a pretty big hit on the west coast, but possibly not across the country. The BMW X5 has a window sticker price of $81,000.

The Car Pro also talked about some stories on his website carprousa.com. One was a video where he and Kevin are at a car show and talk about Jerry's Z06 vs Kevin's F-Type S sports car, which Jerry describes as two guys talking about "who could beat up who." Another story is on IHHS's list of the 2021 Top Safety Picks, where Jerry says safety is not in the front of everyone's mind, but that it is still an important piece of the puzzle to consider when buying a new car. And finally, a story on the importance of learning all the features when buying a new car.
