Texas Couple Sentenced for Felony Amount of Meth Hidden in Bra

After a strange traffic stop in South Texas led to the discovery of a felony amount of methamphetamine hidden in a woman's bra, both she and her partner were recently sentenced to a combined 24 years in federal prison.

Texas Meth Bust Lands Two in Prison

On January 29, 2025, a deputy from the Orange County Sheriff's Office conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Deborah Lagrone with Dustin Lacouture, 43, in the passenger seat.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer immediately smelled marijuana and ordered the two to step out while a search was conducted, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

This was when officers found a total of three firearms, two "bags" of marijuana, some methamphetamine, and a food scale with illegal narcotic residue left on it.

The couple was immediately detained, handcuffed, and placed in the back of the police cruiser. On the way to the jail, Lagrone was seen slipping her hand from her cuffs and scooting closer to Lacouture.

When they arrived at the jail, a deputy who spotted the odd behavior searched Lagrone once more. This was when a small baggie filled with 184 grams of meth was discovered hidden in her bra.

The Couple's Federal Prison Sentence One Year Later

After one year in jail on January 22, 2026, the couple finally received their sentences after both pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Deborah Lagrone was sentenced to 120 months (10 years) in federal prison while Dustin Lacouture was sentenced to 168 months (14 years).

It's unclear at this time if the time spent in jail will serve as credit to reduce their overall prison sentence.
