Two suspects in Lubbock have been arrested after stealing from a store, leading police on a pursuit, and colliding with other vehicles during the getaway.

High-Speed Chase Leads to Two Arrests

On Tuesday, October 6, the Lubbock Police Department (LPD) responded to a call claiming that two individuals were attempting to steal items from a store on the 3400 block of I-27.

When officers arrived on the scene, one suspect, 48-year-old Joshua Gordy, attempted to flee on foot, not getting far enough away before being caught and placed under arrest.

The other suspect, 34-year-old Keegan Bell, chose to run from police in an SUV. Bell was able to escape initially, but was pulled over during a traffic stop just 10 minutes later.

He Fled Police Only to Crash and Get Caught

The officer conducting the stop ordered Bell to pull over, but instead he continued driving, initiating a pursuit.

With police on his tail, Bell traveled east on 34th Street before losing control of the vehicle, forcing him over the curb and crashing into two parked cars in a parking lot. He then quickly exited the disabled SUV and proceeded to flee on foot.

Following a brief foot pursuit, Bell was captured and taken into custody.

There were no injuries reported during the entire pursuit, and both Gordy and Bell were sent to the Lubbock County Detention Center as a Major Crash Investigation Unit callout was initiated.

Joshua Gordy was booked on one count of theft while Keegan Bell was booked on one count of theft, one count of evading arrest, and one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
