East Lubbock Shooting Leaves One Dead

Just after 2:30 in the morning of Sunday, October 11, the Lubbock Police Department (LPD) dispatched officers to E 26th Street and Ivory Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired.

While the officers were at the scene gathering information, they heard gunshots in the distance, forcing them to hurry over and see what the cause was. When they arrived at the source of the gunshots, they found a man, 28-year-old Delton Lewis, suffering gunshot wounds while still inside his vehicle, which had collided with a parked car.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

At about the same time, University Medical Center treated 18-year-old Yundi Inthisan-Johnson who sustained moderate injuries from gunshot wounds. Police believe the two cases are connected.

Initial investigation showed that both Lewis and Inthisan-Johnson arrived in the area in one car before an unknown individual opened fire at them both, killing Lewis and sending Inthisan-Johnson to the hospital.

The investigation is still ongoing as the gunman remains to be identified.
