Texas Tech’s Blayne Beal Discusses New Improvements At Jones AT&T Stadium For Home Opener Against Stephen F. Austin [AUDIO]
On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Blayne Beal, associate athletics director for Texas Tech University, talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the new changes fans can expect at Jones AT&T this season.
Texas Tech will be hosting their first home game of the 2013 season tomorrow night against Stephen F. Austin University. It will also be the first game held at the newly-renovated Jones AT&T Stadium. Beal said that there are over $60 million worth of renovation in the new stadium, and many of them were built with the fans in mind.
One of the many changes fans will see is the brand new high-definition video board and sound system. Beal explained that this board is one of the largest in college football, and will also stream updates from other games in the area so fans will no longer feel out of touch with what's going on outside of Tech football. The stadium now also allows for credit cards and student dining cards to be used at concession stands, as well as LTE coverage for improved cell phone service.
Texas Tech kicks off against Stephen F. Austin University at 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 7th at Jones AT&T Stadium. The theme of this week's game is "Stripe Out The Jones," when fans siting in odd-numbers sections will wear black and students and fans in even-numbered sections will wear red. For more information and to purchase tickets to the game, visit the official Texas Tech Athletics website at texastech.com.
