The Associated Press Top 25 college football polling results were recently released, and wouldn't you know it, Texas Tech made the top half of the list at No. 12.

Breaking Down the AP Top 25 Poll

Yeah, yeah, so we didn't get first place. That honor went to Ohio State, followed by Oregon and Georgia in the top three spots. UT landed in No. 5 while Texas A&M settled at 8th place. Here's the final poll from AP News if you want to see the full results yourself.

Before you start thinking about how lame it is to be No. 12, just know that this is the second highest Texas Tech has ever reached in the poll. AP previously ranked TTU No. 8 way back in 1977 after a doozy of a season.

So, who are the top performers this year that brought the Red Raiders to the top 12? Notable names include defensive lineman A.J. Holmes Jr., tight end Terrance Carter Jr., cornerback Brice Pollock, and linebackers Ben Roberts and John Curry.
