A Texas Tech tennis player will compete in a national playoff.

Sophomore Samantha Adams teamed up with her brother Harrison, and won the 2011 U.S. Open Texas Sectional Qualifying Tournament Mixed Double Championship this past weekend in Arlington, Texas.

She now moves on to compete in the U.S. Open National Playoffs to be played at Yale University in late August. The 15 sectional winners will face off against each other with the winner receiving a wild card spot into the 2011 US Open.

Tech Head Coach Todd Petty commented on Adams’ success, saying “She had a strong freshman year, and has continued to work hard this summer. We are excited about the way she is playing, and the way she is representing Texas Tech.”
