Friday evening marks the end of the 2016 regular season for Texas Tech Red Raider Football. The Red Raiders are playing the annual Texas Farm Bureau Shootout against the Baylor Bears at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead with 53 yard bomb from Zach Smith to K.D. Cannon on the game's first possession.

The Red Raiders on their next possession did something they haven't done too many times this season: respond to an opening possession touchdown with one of their own. Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes found Keke Coutee open on a go-route for a 35 yard touchdown reception. That tied the game at 7-7 with 8:05 left in the first quarter.

The Texas Tech defense then forced a fumble on the Bears next possession. With the ball at the Baylor 40 yard line, Mahomes on the first play from scrimmage went deep to the near sideline and found Dylan Cantrell open for a touchdown reception. The extra point was no good and Texas Tech had a 13-7 lead with 6:09 left in the first quarter.

On the Bears next possession, they moved the ball into Red Raider territory, but couldn't convert a 3rd & 4 at the Texas Tech 41 yard line.  Rather then trying a near 60 yard field goal, the Bears went for it on 4th Down. Zach Smith's pass to Ishmael Zamora fell incomplete and Texas Tech took over possession after the turnover on downs.
