
Texas Tech Football Stays Ranked #4, Heads To The Capital One Orange Bowl on Jan. 1
Texas Tech Football captured the Big 12 Championship on Saturday with a huge win over then #11 BYU at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The 34-7 victory sealed Texas Tech's entry into the College Football Playoffs and now we know when are where they are going.
Texas Tech is Feeling Orange
On Sunday we learned that Texas Tech had kept the #4 ranking in the College Football Playoff. That means Texas Tech will get a bye week and their next game on January, 1st 2026 at the Capitol One Orange Bowl. Texas Tech will face the winner of the Oregon/James Madison Game. Oregon was an at-large selection while James Madison was the winner of the Sun Belt Conference.

Kickoff of the Capital One Orange Bowl is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT. The Orange Bowl is played in Miami Gardens, Florida at the Hard Rock Stadium. Hard Rock Stadium is also the home of this year's National Championship game.
Ticket Requests for the Orange Bowl
According to a press release, tickets for the Orange Bowl are not yet on sale, but requests are being accepted.
Ticket requests for the Capital One Orange Bowl are now being accepted from Red Raider Club members and current season ticket holders. Due to limited ticket inventory, Texas Tech will allow only eight requested tickets per Red Raider Club account at the $5,000 level or above and then four tickets for all other accounts. As a reminder, College Football Playoff tickets are not guaranteed and will be filled based on Red Raider Club priority points, while tickets remain.
Red Raider Club members and current season tickets holders can submit ticket requests now by logging into their account on TexasTech.com. The Texas Tech Ticket Office will open at 8:30 a.m. Monday and can be reached at 806-742-TECH for any College Football Playoff ticket information.
Who Will Texas Tech Face?
Texas Tech will play the winner of Oregon and James Madison. Oregon is the favorite in that matchup. That game, which will be played in Eugene, Oregon will kickoff at 6:30pm CT on Saturday, December 20. You can watch the game on TNT and TruTV.
